Boats I have been researching

As we have been talking about what we would like:

-: L or U shaped galley, double steering, 3 cabins, furling genoa (maybe furling main but we need to investigate pro’s and con’s) all lines to the back, easily handled by 2

Two of the yachts that keep coming back are the “Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40.3” . (Owners Manual here) and the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 43 , either the regular or DS version

Another one that seems to be affordable is the Beneteau Cyclades 39.3 or 43.3 but this model has a straight galley and some reported issue about the rudder tube (here) which is an Oceanis but uses the same rudder tube buildup , and even one sunk boat (The ‘Blue Pearl’) Beneteau has released a fix (here) but I don’t quite get a warm fuzzy feeling about it.

Another very nice yacht that seems to fit all our needs is the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2  (User manual), bit pricey though . Maybe work harder and save more

After reading this article I started to look at Beneteau Oceanis 473’s as well. Initially way out of reach but as we’re firming up our final budget this one may be within budget as well if we don’t go overboard and choose the right one .

(edit 2016 : and guess what we choose ? a 473 with steering / rudder ‘beefed up’)  😉
