Amazing road trip in Morocco! Part 3

Check out part 1 and part 2 if you’ve missed them!

After that amazing experience in the desert at Merzouga we drove approximately 4 hours enjoying even more stunning landscapes to our next stop, Tamnougalt.

Hey, look, a white dromedary!
Rubbish in the desert driving from Merzouga. What a waste!

Here I’d booked a room in a beautiful 16th century restored kasbah, now in use as a museum.

Stepping inside we could hardly believe our eyes. What an incredible place! Fully restored with beautiful authentic details and knickknacks, Rene worried that we were in the wrong place. Ha!

Look at that entrance!
Sleeping in a museum, what a fairy tale.
Check out the berber art in the walls.
A very nice place to have tea. Also, look at that view!

This kasbah has actually been used as a filmset. That is pretty awesome, if you ask me.

The owner Hassan was the nicest guy and served us, in our opinion, the best meal we’d had in Morocco up until that point; the most succulent oxtail tagine, with a fresh chopped salad, fresh bread, some spread with eggplant, onion, garlic and spices, spicy olives and a fruit salad. We ate until we could eat no more.

That night he invited us to his place (he lives in another part of the kasbah) to enjoy wonderful live music.

Lauren even got to join in and make music with them, playing the tamtam.

I don’t show her face, but her smile mirrored his. She loved to play!

Chillin’ on our bed the next morning.

This place has been an absolute dream and I would highly, highly recommend it to anyone visiting this country!

Coming soon: Part 4 of our amazing road trip where we chill in Skoura for 2 days and hate on Marrakech.
